There’s a better way to vote.
It’s called ranked-choice voting. It’s a small change to ballots that makes a big difference for democracy.
With ranked-choice ballots, you don’t just vote for one person. You get to rank the options in the order that you like them: your 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice, and so on. Easy as 1-2-3.
Cities and states across the country are switching to ranked-choice voting because it lets voters show how they really feel about the candidates. No more worries about “wasting” your vote on someone other people say “can’t win”. This simple change to how we vote can cut the gridlock, encourage clean campaigning, and help more people care about elections because every ballot really counts.
In 2021, Virginia can become the next state to start using ranked-choice voting, and Ranked Choice Virginia is working hard to see it through. We’re Virginians of all stripes from every corner of the Commonwealth united in building a better democracy.
